Summer Programming Begins at Local Libraries in Bismarck, ND

Summer is just around the corner, and local libraries in Bismarck, ND are gearing up for an exciting season of summer programming. The Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library and Morton Mandan Public Library have officially kicked off their summer programs with the theme “Adventure Begins At Your Library.”

Jennie Archer, the services program coordinator for teens at the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library, shared, “The summer reading program theme this summer is ‘Adventure Begins At Your Library.’ So we’ve planned all sorts of programs for kids through adults that help them explore new and exciting interests.”

From summer reading programs to gardening opportunities, make-and-take events, and more, this summer’s programs offer something for everyone. The libraries have a variety of events planned throughout the summer, including a summer reading premiere on June 6th, an adult summer camp event on July 7th, and a wrap-up event on August 8th.

Kayla Schmidt, the community engagement associate at Mandan Morton Library, emphasized the importance of catering to all ages with their summer programs. She explained, “We want to make sure we get all ages, so we’re doing some outside things like looking at the stars, different activities.”

One common theme among the library representatives is the significance of summer programs for everyone. Archer highlighted, “During the school year, kids and teens in particular, are told by teachers what they need to learn. But over the summer they have a little bit more time to explore what they’re interested in and learn about what they really care about on their own.”

Both libraries stress that their summer programs are free and open to the public. They encourage families to sign up ahead of time to secure their spots in the various events and activities.

As summer approaches, make sure to check out the exciting summer programs offered by the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library and Morton Mandan Public Library. Whether you’re a kid, teen, or adult, there’s something for everyone to enjoy and explore at the library this summer. Don’t miss out on the adventure that awaits at your local library!
