Twins Games Return to Comcast Cable Systems After New Agreement Reached
Attention all Twins fans! Exciting news has just been announced – Twins games will be returning to Comcast’s cable systems starting this Thursday. This comes after Comcast and Diamond Sports Group reached an agreement on a new contract, bringing back Bally Sports North to your screens.
But wait, there’s a catch. BSN will now be included in Comcast Xfinity’s “Ultimate TV” package, rather than the basic “Popular TV” package. While this higher tier does come at an additional cost of $20 per month, Comcast is sweetening the deal by offering three months free for subscribers who choose to upgrade.
For many baseball fans, this news couldn’t have come at a better time. BSN’s programming, including Twins games and Lynx games, has been blacked out on Xfinity and Midco cable systems since May 1, leaving fans unable to watch a significant portion of the season. This blackout also affected subscribers of the other 14 Bally regional sports networks across the country.
While the agreement does not include a standalone, direct-to-consumer streaming option, Comcast Xfinity subscribers will once again have the ability to stream games on the Comcast app. Twins spokesman Dustin Morse expressed gratitude to fans for their patience during the contract negotiations and looks forward to the excitement of the postseason push in the coming months.
This agreement is part of Diamond’s efforts to survive last summer’s bankruptcy and paves the way for Bally networks to negotiate new contracts with NBA and NHL teams. With the Twins’ contract with BSN set to expire in October, the future remains uncertain. However, Major League Baseball has offered to produce telecasts for any teams that choose not to continue their partnership with Diamond Sports Group.
So mark your calendars, Twins fans, and get ready to cheer on your team from the comfort of your own home once again. Let’s make the most of the remaining season and support our Twins as they make a push for the postseason!
